Metropolitan Improvement District Funding Requests

The Metropolitan Improvement District (MID) seeks sponsors for the popular community events it produces, and also awards marketing funds each year to projects benefitting its six neighborhoods (Belltown, Denny Triangle, Retail Core, Pioneer Square, Waterfront and West Edge) in the following categories:

  • Community Events – Free and low-cost public events for visitors, residents and Downtown’s workforce which drive pedestrian traffic and enhance the neighborhood’s positive reputation. Priority is given to events that are family friendly, drive retail traffic, activate public spaces and include participation opportunities for neighborhood merchants.
     
  • Neighborhood Marketing Initiatives – Collateral materials (maps, brochures, signage), street-pole banners, permanent and temporary art installations, holiday lighting, etc. which help to brand and market MID neighborhoods.

Requests for MID marketing funds are submitted via a funding application accepted annually — deadline is Feb. 28. Applications can be submitted to events@downtownseattle.org, by fax (206-625-9940) or by mail (Metropolitan Improvement District, c/o Marketing, 1809 7th Avenue, Ste 900, Seattle, WA 98101).

Approved funding requests must agree to include the MID and neighborhood logo, adhere to all logo graphic standards, and promote online parking resource DowntownSeattleParking.com in marketing materials.

Promotional Support

In addition, the MID’s Communications & Marketing team provides in-kind promotional support for Downtown-based attractions, events and promotions through its numerous communications channels. If you have an event you would like publicized, submit your request with all of the pertinent information and images (event logo or photos) at least four weeks in advance to events@downtownseattle.org.
