Nutcrackers March Into Downtown Seattle
Artistic Creations Bring Holiday Cheer,
Benefit Children with Disabilities

SEATTLE, WA – Beginning November 14, 2007, 60 decorated nutcrackers will take up residence on the streets of Downtown Seattle in a vast public art display for the holidays. Now in its third and final year, the Nutcracker March is inspired by the Pacific Northwest Ballet’s annual performance of the Nutcracker, which has been a Seattle holiday tradition for more than 20 years. Local organizations such as the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Seahawks, The Seattle Aquarium and the Museum of Flight have sponsored individual nutcrackers. An array of talented artists from around the Puget Sound has been selected to design the nutcrackers.

WHAT: Pacific Northwest Ballet Nutcracker March, a public art display benefiting the Northwest Center. 60 decorated nutcrackers will be on display throughout the Downtown Seattle core.

WHEN: November 14th, 2007 through January 4th, 2008

WHERE: The nutcrackers will be positioned throughout Downtown Seattle from the Seattle Center to Pioneer Square on city sidewalks and in neighborhood plazas and building lobbies.

WHY: The nutcrackers provide an excellent platform to showcase talented local artists and provide a unique public art display for the thousands of people that flock to Downtown Seattle for shopping, holiday activities and sight-seeing. Sale of the Nutcrackers will benefit the Northwest Center, a 42 year old local non-profit organization serving children with delays and developmental disabilities.

INFORMATION: More information, including a map and audio tour of the Nutcrackers, a complete list of artists and sponsors, interactive games and purchasing information is available at www.nutcrackermarch.org
