DSA Supports Alcohol Impact Area

The DSA Board of Trustees supports the establishment of an alcohol impact area in Pioneer Square and the expansion of the area to include the rest of Downtown and adjacent urban neighborhoods as requested.

The establishment of the Alcohol Impact Area is part of a comprehensive program for Chronic Public Inebriates, sponsored by King County, that the DSA has been an active participant on for the past several years. Our transitional job program in the Metropolitan Improvement District was shaped by this effort and is an effective tool to help chronic public inebriates to regain sobriety and employment. Click here to read the white paper produced by County Health Department consultants Lachman & Laing for a summary of the issues.
