Westlake Children’s Play Area Opens This Friday
There simply are not enough public spaces oriented for children in Downtown, and we’re changing that one project at a time beginning Friday, March 1 at Westlake Park.
Construction is ramping up (pictured left) as we prepare to unveil the new Westlake Children’s Play Area with an opening celebration on Friday at 11:30 a.m., with brief remarks scheduled to begin at noon.
The ceremony will include a ribbon cutting, a performance by the Spruce Street School Marimba Ensemble, face painting courtesy of Seattle Children’s Research Institute, coffee/hot chocolate and treats provided by Starbucks.

Friday’s event will be an opportunity to celebrate family friendly amenities Downtown, where some 3,000 children reside and the residential population has increased by 20 percent in the last decade. Here are the event details:
